The School of Business covers two disciplines of economics and management. It has 8 teaching departments, including economics department, finance department, international economy and trade department, management department, accounting department, marketing department, tourism management department, e-commerce department and logistics department.
The school focuses on scientific research and discipline construction, highlights the cross integration and collaborative innovation between applied economics and business management disciplines, and creates two subjects platforms of Northeast Asia economic and trade cooperation and cross-border e-commerce, marine resources and environmental economics. It has nine scientific research institutions, including Northeast Asia Research Center, Labor Economy and Human Resources Research Center, and International Service Trade Research Center. In the past five years, teachers of the school have published more than 300 papers and 30 academic monographs in academic journals at home and abroad, and presided over more than 80 National Social Science Fund, National Natural Science Fund and various provincial and ministerial level topics. The Economic Management Experimental Center of the school is the experimental teaching demonstration center of Shandong Province.
With the promotion of the “integrated development” strategy of Shandong University, the school has established inter-school co-construction and sharing cooperation with the School of Economics, School of Management and School of Software, sharing resources and seeking common development in curriculum construction, talent training, teaching practice base construction, faculty construction, scientific research, etc.
In terms of foreign affairs, the school has carried out such undergraduate and graduate cooperation programs as 2 + 2, 1 + 2 + 1, 3 + 1 + 1, 3 + 1.5 with famous universities in Australia, France, the United States, UK, Spain, South Korea, New Zealand and other countries.
The school has an interdisciplinary faculty with a combination of Arts and Sciences. There are 22 professors, 43 associate professors, 9 doctoral supervisors and 31 master supervisors. The school has 9 undergraduate majors, including finance (including insurance direction), international economy and trade, accounting, human resource management, marketing, tourism management, business administration, logistics management (supply chain management), e-commerce (including big data management and application), and cooperates with the University of Western Australia in Finance (Sino foreign cooperation) and Sino-Australian Business International Class. Among them, marketing, finance and tourism management are three specialties with provincial characteristics; international economy and trade is specialty with school-level characteristics.

In terms of international talents training, the school has set up Sino-Australian international courses (including finance and insurance), accounting (international experiment), international economy and trade (Sino-French international experiment), tourism management (Sino-French international experiment) and other programs to select excellent students among the whole school and cultivate “Business + English”, “Business + English + French” composite and international economic management talents.
At the same time, the schoolfocuses on building a “new liberal arts” specialty integrating arts and sciences, such as logistics management (supply chain management), e-commerce (including big data management and application) and marketing (digital marketing direction).
In 2018, nearly 15% of undergraduates went to world-class universities in the United States, UK, Australia, France, Singapore and other countries for further study; 21% of undergraduates went to Beijing University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Zhejiang University, Nanjing University, Renmin University of China, Shandong University, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and other well-known domestic universities and research institutes for further study. The rest of the undergraduates worked in state agencies, enterprises and public institutions at all levels, or chose to start their own businesses.
The 1997 class alumnus Guan Qingyou, a well-known economist, has participated in the Expert Forum on Economic Situation held by general secretary Xi Jinping; Wang Lin, the 1994 class alumnus, is currently president of Shandong LinglongTyre Co., Ltd; the 2001 class alumnus Zhang Xiaoling is currently an associate professor and doctoral tutor of City University Hong Kong; Professor Zhang Ning, a 2003 class alumnus, is the winner of the National Excellent Youth Science Foundation; and 2001 class alumnus Tian Jipeng, is now vice president of the School of Exhibition and Tourism, Shanghai University of International Business and Economics.
Liu Yingbin, a 2004 class alumnus, founded and served as CEO of QMG, has won the golden prize of Cannes Advertising Festival, Chinese Best New Media Marketing Service Agency and other awards; Fu Xiaojuan, a 2004 alumnus, has been awarded the model of “National Advanced Individual of Urban and Rural Women’s Post Achievement”, “National Youth Entrepreneurship and Wealth Leader”, “Pioneer Communist Party Member of Shandong Province”, “The 14th Shandong Youth May 4th Medal”; Sun Penglei, a 2009 alumnus, founded the “radish part-time” app during his study, won 5 million venture capital and the title of the third "Top ten Entrepreneurial Stars of Shandong University Students".
Zhang Xiaohua, a 2009 class alumnus, works in the Ministry of Finance; Cai Zhichao, a 2014 class alumnus, works in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Li Siyun, a 2015 class alumnus, works in China Securities Regulatory Commission.
Enrollment shall be conducted in the following categories:BusinessAdministration, Economics and Finance (Sino-foreign cooperation). In the first year, undergraduate students study according to their enrollment major category, and choose their major division inthe second semester of the first year.
The school selects 60 students from international economics and trade major (Sino-French international experimental class), 60 students from accounting major (Sino-French international experimental class) and 40 students from tourism management major (Sino-French international experimental class) among all freshmen.
