UWA Delegation Visits SDUW

      On November 2nd, a delegation led by Mr. Iain Watt, Pro Vice-Chancellor (International) of The University of Western Australia (UWA) visited Shandong University, Weihai (SDUW). Prof. Chen Guanjun, Vice President of SDUW, and Prof. Liu Hai, Vice President of SDUW, met with the guests respectively. Relevant staff from Office of Teaching Affairs, International Office, School of Business, School of Law, School of Culture and Communication, School of Translation Studies, and School of Mechanical, Electrical and Information Engineering were present at relevant activities.

    During the meeting with Mr.Watt, Prof. Chen extended his gratitude to UWA for its constant efforts in developing the joint education programs. Meanwhile, he pointed out that the cooperation between the two universities has stepped into a new stage where the existing partnership should be expanded to wider areas. Prof. Chen also said that SDUW would send more outstanding students to study at UWA. Mr.Watt spoke highly of the SDUW students studying at UWA, and was pleased to see that the joint education programs have significantly promoted teacher and student exchanges between the two sides. Later, the two parties held the 2nd session of Joint Management Committee of the joint education program in Finance, during which the two discussed details regarding teaching arrangements, cloud campus teaching system etc.

    During the meeting with Mr. Watt, Prof. Liu Hai reviewed the cooperation and exchange between the two universities. He said that SDUW will give top priority to the cooperation with Australian universities according to the development positioning of SDUW as an open campus focused on the cooperation with partners in the Asia-Pacific region. In the discussion, two parties reached consensuses upon developing joint education programs under various models such as 2+2+1 and 3+1+1. In addition, relevant staff from School of Mechanical, Electrical and Information Engineering, School of Culture and Communication, School of Translation Studies and School of Law respectively introduced their programs.

    During the visit, the guests also discussed with faculties from School of Business  in terms of cloud campus teaching system and course articulation, while introducing UWA School of Business to students of the Sino-Australia International Class and answering their questions.

    It is reported that SDUW launched the 2+2 program in finance and accounting with UWA in 2012, and students of this program are enrolled in the Sino-Australia International Class. The jointly-running undergraduate program in finance was approved by the Ministry of Education in 2015. Currently, 64 students are studying at UWA and have achieved excellent academic performances.
